We had an area of bad grass in front of our shed so decided to pave it.

I wanted a simple circle but my missus wanted a bit more (as usual). I marked the circle then built a bit of a stone wall around so I didn’t have to shift any of the soil I dug out.

The circles were expensive so instead I bought a crate of slabs and made a circle out of them. I chose these to match the colours in the stone

Once I had it dig out I put a membrane down then put my mix straight onto that

I used a screwdriver and piece of string to mark for the cuts

And then the circle was done

It seemed a bit small so I carried it on over to a flower bed, that still seemed small so I put a step in and another bit of paving, that seemed a bit awkward to access up a small steep hill so I put in another step and paved it across to an existing path.

When I looked at it from eye level it looked crap so we planted a mini privet hedge to hide it from the eye and to stop the kids running up the hill.

So I finished that and just started on the lower bit. I dig out a tree last from there year and built the wall around. I got all the stone off Facebook marketplace for free but it will still cost about £1300 by the time I’m done.

If I were to do it again I’d get a more expensive slab, there were some that were 20mm smaller than they were supposed to be so I do have some large joints in places.

A pukka job there but my back, arms and legs are aching just looking at it!
