Hi,

Hope someone can help,
I'm looking to update the kitchen and Mrs wants a 5 place induction hob and a new double oven.
The ones I've seen are rated as follows:

Induction Hob = 9400W
Double oven = 5.19Kw

Will installing these require my cooker circuit to be updated from 6mm cable to 10mm?

Works not started yet but want to know before I start agreeing with her!

Thanks.

No. You will never have both on full power at the same time. Look up diversity.

I think they are saying your 6mm cable will be fine 99% of the time
To be even clearer, I think what is being said is that the cable will 'not be overloaded' for 99%+ of the time, but I would personally say that, given averaging/diversity, the cable would be "fine" for 100% of the time (frankly, even 4mm² probably would be).

Kind Regards, John
