We bought a flat four years ago and it had an induction hob installed that looked brand new at the time. The model and make (Sauter SPI1106B) is at the upper end of mid-range units. Even from the beginning, it would occasionally trip itself off with an indication of "spillage" – that the touch controls were dirty or had water on them, even when they didn't. The only way to get the hob working again is to switch it off and on again.
As time has passed, this problem has become more and more frequent to the point where I am thinking I have to replace the hob. It seems a shame when it was quite costly to start with, so I'd like to hear if anyone else had similar problems with a better solution than complete replacement.
We try to keep the touch controls pristine and clean – doesn't help. We have tried turning the power off for a couple of hours to fully discharge any electronics and reset the hob – doesn't help.
