I have purchased a Manrose 100mm In-Line Mixed Flow Extractor Fan and a ceiling vent that will hook up to this. I’ve currently placed the vent itself directly above the shower area where the steam starts. The extractor fan itself is in the loft and the run to the extraction point is relatively short.

My question is, I have a window about 70cm to the left of the shower area. Do I need a vent also near the window area ? Reason I ask is does the hot air/steam naturally try and make its way to the coldest spot which will be the window ? Or will the extractor fan technically be able to suck it up before that happens? If steam is naturally going to try going towards the window, could I potentially put a second vent just in front of the window area which can Tee to the same extractor input maybe?

10mm gap under bathroom door. Air comes in then up out through extractor.
If you open window the air will come in mostly at that point, then up out the extractor.

Unfortunately it's not 100% perfect so you will get condensation on the window as the air swirls around, but this should disappear after 10 mins or so after you had shower.

I use a window vac and paper towel after I've showered or after a family run at washing to remove some of the water and condensation. Every little helps control the moisture in winter

^^ wot he says except we’ve never had to use a windows vac as I find the fan does enough to clear the room

I use window vac on bath and shower curtain. I go over tiles as well. Tbh I hate doing it and with no enthusiasm. Takes about 1 minute and the longest minute of my life! It's so tedious! Just a bit less for the dehumidifier to pick up so costing me less, as I don't want moisture dumping on windows throughout house or burning electric.. .

^^ we rarely have much condensation on the tiles or window.

Also I do not have a back draft shutter on the fans so the rooms are always vented to some extent
