2 things really. first is how do i know if i have enough pressure to install shower, and secondly when i tee off the hot water cylinder is it best to go up into loft and across or down under floor boards and across. Also shower will be fitted to external wall, if i chisel out runs for pipework can i just plaster over or do i have to insulate pipework before i plaster over

first you have to make sure you have chosen the right shower for your system ( I'm assuming an open vented cylinder) so suitable for gravity feed.

if your cold water cistern in the attic is on a rased platform you should get enough pressure from it to run the pipe from the loft, if its not raised you would have to go under the floor boards.

you would have to protect the pipe from freezing and corrosion when sinking in the exterior wall
