I'm not concerned about fitting the Essex Flange just thought it might be unnecessary to make a new hole when there is already one there that could potentially be used.
Not sure if you read my previous post but can speedfit pipe be directly inserted into the HWC via the essex flange or is it better to use a short 1m run of copper pipe inside the HWC and connect the speedfit pipe to that instead

Either way how far do you insert the pipe into the HWC the instructions for the Essex Flange fail to specify.

i would use copper pipe inside the cylinder about 6" long.
