I am installing a new bathroom on the first floor which I have converted by splitting the largest bedroom down the middle. The original bathroom is located downstairs and problem is, to gain access to the main soil stack I have had to install a 5m 110mm horizontal waste pipe which runs along the driveway from the front to the rear of the house. Building control states I have to install an additional vent pipe where the new outlet comes through the wall before the 5m run. I am wondering if an air admittance valve or Dergo valve would be an easier option rather than a vent pipe going up above roof level. If so is there one available that can be fitting outside? I heard they can freeze up in the winter, is there a special valve that cvan be purchased?

Many thanks, Laurence.

instead of a sub stack if you use hepvo valves on all apliances a sub or extra vent should not be required a max run for a soil pipe is 6m

if BC states a "vent" then I would check with them what they consider a vent is

you will probably find building control will allow the use of hepvo on all apliances instead

A bit late to be installing these Hepvo valves? I have already installed appliances, and tiled over pipework for shower etc. Have been looking on the internet at air admittance valves but none of them state if they are suitable for outside installation.

Hi

BC will probably say no

AAV inside only could freeze shut in winter.

hope this helps

but you might not

If the problem is a 4inch pipe running up your wall .........unsightly.......they may let you run a smaller diameter one....as it`s only a vent pipe............then again they may not
