I want to install a 4" extractor fan in my airing cupboard to help with drying clothes (I live in a flat with little drying space). Since it's not being installed in a bathroom I presume that some of the safety regulations detailed in the fan's instructions don't apply? Could someone thus suggest the appropriate way to connect the fan (operated by a separate pullcord) to the supply? I could take a feed off the ceiling rose but would prefer to take it from an existing wall socket if that's feasible, since it would be neater that way.

Many thanks in advance.

Spur a switched FCU (fitted with a 3a fuse) from the socket and feed the fan from the load side of the FCU.

(Disclaimer: I'm not familiar with the regs in North Korea)

LoveRocket, many thanks for your timely response, kinda agrees with what I thought already which is reassuring!

(Disclaimer, I'm not really in N Korea ;) )

Yes, but only the really stupid ones make false statements about which country they are in.

Because some of us are intelligent adults, not stupid annoying little children telling fibs.
