I have just moved into a new house and the garage doors are not wide enough to get my car inside.

I want to replace 2 x 2.1m wide garage doors with 580mm central pillar with 1 x 4.8m wide door.

There is a 600mm cube pillar at one end and a single skin dense block pillar at the other end.

How much should I expect to pay to have an RSJ installed to replace the current lintel and remove the pillar and concrete in the floor space left by the pillar and render the exterior of the new beam?

It may not be that simple. You may need a goal post arrangement, given how close to the side wall (flank?) the left hand (outside looking in) end will be.

Have you priced your 4800 door yet, they seem to get v pricey at greater than 3000.
The rest of it you should get change from 2k (depending where in the country you are), might be able to get a few quid by flogging the old doors
