I was reading through the installation manual for installing the roof tiles and I have realised that there is enough detail in there that I would probably need a "roof tiler".

If I then hired such a person to install the roof tiles and other roof bits, how much would I be expected to pay per day ?

I love it!

Yes most trade work is a bit more involved than glancing through something like an IKEA cupboard assembly booklet.

Get a price for the roof not per day.

I was reading the manufacturer's installation manual and I would expect the fitter to follow instructions to the letter, not to cut corners, and not to deviate unless for a very good and convincing reason.

So any idea how much a "roof tiler" person might charge? It is a hip-to-hip roof, 8.2m by 5.7m, 1.8m from eaves to ridge, 55m2 area more or less.

A proper experienced roof tiler won't need nor even read instructions. They are tiles, and the tiles are just one part of the roof. He's already spent several years learning how to roof, not 10 minutes reading the instructions in the box. I'd be worried if I saw a roofer reading instructions on one of my jobs.

The deviation comes (and the experience needed) when the roof and building are not exactly like the utopian situation that is written in the instructions. Which is nearly every roof.

Get prices for the job. But bear in mind that a crap inexperienced "roofer" is going to want exactly the same day rate as the best roofer in the UK.
