Insulating A Loft

Hi, I'm very new to all this so may be asking a very obvious question, but.........we are having our loft insulated by Warmfront, who have offered to carry out the work free of charge. The chap told me that I would have to take up the boarding in the loft but wouldn't be able to relay it as the insulation isn't even; he said they lay the same thickness across the joists as they do between them so the floor won't be level. My landlord isn't very happy about having no boarding up there and I would miss having the additional storage space. Is it possible to insulate a loft in a way that allows for boarding to go back down again? It isn't boarded throughout, there is just enough to allow someone to walk around safely if they need to get up there for any reason.

When I re-did mine this year I put in one layer between the joists up to the top of them, then a second layer across the joists up to the recommended depth.

I then installed a number of timbers at right angles to the joists between the strips of the second layer insulation up to the height of the top of the insulation. I then relaid some of the loft boards on these timbers to form a platform - which at least gives me a decent amount of storage space for the Xmas decorations and the holiday suitcases.

What do Warmfront plan to do about the electrical cables up there? If they end up buried between layers of insulation there's a risk of them getting warmer for the same current draw than they do now. Effectively the circuits capacity is de-rated.
