I’d like to insulate an external wall from inside. I was thinking of fixing timbers to the wall and then using earthwool between the timbers then boarding over it.

Would I need to leave a gap between the brick wall and the insulation?

Is your wall damp? Is your wall a cavity wall?

This is all a bit of a minefield, and if you get responses to this, there will probably be some disagreements...

With a cavity wall you can generally just fix insulated plasterboard (which has a PIR insulation backing) directly to the wall. This is similar to the way that solid walls are dealt with

Did you leave a gap between board and wall or just fix the board straight on to the brickwork?
