Our conservatory is north facing, and in mid winter it ices over on the inside, which means when it melts everything inside gets wet. Does anyone know if we cut kingspan to size and pushed it up between the rafters would we have a condensation problem between the glass and the kingspan? If this would not work does anyone have any ideas please.

I don’t think pushing lumps of Kingspan between the roof bars would work particularly well, you will get serious condensation & crud growing between the glass & the insulation & it is unlikely to stay up there on it’s own. Unfortunately your average conservatory is about as heat efficient as a garden shed, they are not suitable for year round use in the UK climate. Close it down in winter, whatever you do will generally be wasting time & money.

We too have a north facing conservatory (4.5m x 5m) and during the winter months suffer from condensation. We have a large double radiator fitted and at the time had fabric window blinds. The radiator is part of the house heating system operated by a room stat and found that the house would reach temperature and swith off leaving us with a cold and unusable conservatory.
Last November we purchased from Selco some polystyrene insulation sheets (at a cost of £50 because they were on offer) and pushed them inbetween the roof bars. We also changed the window blinds to light weight pvc blinds (again at a cost of about £50) and the results were fantastic!
Our conservatory is now the warmest place in the house and is used comfortably all year round.
To cut each sheet can be a little tricky and time consuming and we did find on ocassions some of the sheets would fall down but we just put some tape on the edges to keep them in place.
We did not have any problems with condensation between the polystyrene and glass and we just cleaned the glass and wiped the frames as normal when we took them down in about March, which is when we start to get the sun on the roof again.
We stored them in the loft during the summer and have put them up again this year.
I would definately recommend it and have done.

In that case you must have a very draughty, cold and uncomfortable house. What thickness of polystyrene did you buy ?
No not at all, we have a very warm and draught free comfortable house thanks.

I have timber frame conservatory and use all year round, have twin rads and it's warm enough all year. had xmas lunch in there this year.[Though it was mild anyway] never get any condensation but have poly roof not glass.
