I insulated my loft a few years ago - and still have some left over rolls. Is it worth me using the extra on top of those that are already down baring in mind that i wont be able to see the joist because of the thickness or will it add no more benefit to what i have already. Reason im asking is because if it wont benefit me then i might as well offload it to someone else.

hope someone can help. thanks

150mm makes a big difference

the latest recommendation is 250mm, so if you have it spare, top it up to that depth. However, you get diminishing returns with each additional layer.

In the areas where you nay need to walk (especially round any water tanks) don't bury the timbers as you will need to walk on them.

Thanks JohnD

Think I need to go up there and find out what the thickness is then - I do have those chipboard floors (not nailed down) but scattered across so that I know there is at least 2 joists under me but am now thinking of getting the floor boarded up.

Thanks again

you might think about cross-battening it to give you more depth for insulation under the boarding.
