WOuld renovation work normally be covered by a household policy or do you need to take aout an extra policy? I'm mainly concerned about insuring against liability to third parties, ike if the flat below gets flooded etc.
Who's doing the renovation work? Bona fide trades will (should! ) have 3rd party liability insurance. If you’re planning anything other than simple DIY, I very much doubt your household policy will cover it even if you have accidental damage; you should check with your insurer. If your not a qualified tradesman, you may have problems getting 3rd party liability cover at a reasonable premium, if at all; after all they won’t be able to asses if you actually have any idea of what your doing!
