Hello all I am i want to try and insulate my 9 inch solid wall. The wall has inch batten on it and plasterboard then plaster . So I has a inch or so gap behind the plasterboard and the brick wall . I was thinking of drilling holes and filling the gaps with expanding foam from top to bottom . Would this be ok ? Instead of ripping it all down and installing a vapour barrier and a air flow gap ?

Overboard it with insulated plasterboard and skim.If you fill it full of holes it's going to need a skim to hide the damage anyway.

That was something I was thinking of but if I done that I would have to re cove that wall and re skirt it which I am trying to avoid .

Well you keep the coving and the cold house and the large heating bills, there is no magic wand.

If you drill holes in the plasterboard, and inject expanding foam into the gaps, the wall will end up looking like a quilt.
