When cold (or immediately after switching-off ) upon turning the key, no ignition problem. However after 1-2 hours starter motor turns engine but it will not fire. If continued then red warning light advises "switch-off / oil pressure / consult manual".
I am searching for advice or replies from other Skoda owners with similar problem.

How long would you have to leave it, to "start from cold"?

Maybe heater plugs, not switching on until engine becomes very cold

Read the fault codes (you need a reader/laptop) for faulty temperature sensor. Local garage will do it for you

iirc the lead you need is obd11 can be bought cheaply from ebay, then download vag-com from the ross tech website,as you have a vag car try searching for other combinations.

Don't know if this helps but this used to be a common fault on Audi A4 (which is an almost identical car). problem with the immobiliser a wire from the chip reader to the ecu.
