Hi All,
I have a 3 bar stuart turner shower pump, which serves a shower room (the pump is in an airing cupboard in this room) and another bathroom about 2m away. The hot inlet to the pump is drawn from a techflange ( I think this is a version of the essex flange but the inner pipe bends upwards toward the hotter water at the top of the tank) on the side of the cylinder and the cold is fed independently from the loft tank.
The problem is that when one shower is run the pump starts to stutter and gives an intermittent flow which seems to be related to the hot side of the pump. When both showers are run simultaneously the pump is fine.
The pump was originally connected to a warix flange from the top of the cyl and has been fine for 12 months. Ive only just changed the hot inlet to a techflange as I thought air may have been drawn into the pump due to the proximity to the vent pipe but the problem only exists when only one shower is run.
Can anyone suggest the cause of the problem or a solution?
