I'll be replacing my aged, defunct burglar alarm this weekend with a shiny new one, and have 2 questions:
1) MI's state connecting via an FCU with 2A fuse - no problem there - but would a switched FCU be appropriate, or just a unswitched FCU? The MI's are agnostic on this.
2) Which circuit to use - could connect to light (6A, RCD), gen-purpose sockets (20 A, RCD), smokes (6A, no RCD), an existing non-RCD circuit (16A) (freezer), or a currently unused, 20A non-RCD circuit.
Not comfortable about sharing a circuit with smokes (since smokes should either be on their own circuit or shared with lights only), and would prefer no RCD protection for the alarm panel.
Due to the proposed cable run (straight out the back and into garage), no RCD would be required, so I am thinking that the dedicated non-RCD circuit would be best.
Have I answered my own question, or does anyone have any helpful recommendations?
