I have a few sockets/light switch boxes in a timber frame wall, and I need to maintain the walls fire rating.

The wall is basically solid celotex insulation and a plasterboard face. No cavity.

The boxes I am using are dry lining ones which will be fixed to the plasterboard, and not fixed to a support noggin or the timber frame.

So can someone recommend me a suitable intumescent product, and a supplier?

I should add that I don't really want to have a large void behind the socket - the box should ideally fit snug into the insulation

What is the fire rating of the wall and where do you want to maintain/repair the fire rating? I've never had a problem with the Fire Officer when installing sockets and switches as you've described in a 1/2hr rated wall.

This is a structural external wall, not a stud partition.

Any fire in the room or socket will potentially melt the celotex in no time and spread to the timber frame.

The wall will be 1/2 hour rated so this needs to be maintained. Even on a practical basis, its best to limit possible damage to the frame - which would be expensive and difficult to repair

Yes, I've done the google thing, but just wondered if anyone had any comments on whether one system was better than another.

Putty does seem the most appropriate
