hi, has anyone seen a 28cdi being run off a non mains electric source? what do they need?- my radiant boiler works off an inverter but worcester wont. thanks for any info
Some flame-failure devices are polarity sensitive and require a neutral to work. We exported burners to Brazil and they connected them to a 220V line-to-line (Hot) supply. Without the neutral, they would not light.
The solution was to connect to a 110V line to neutral supply and use a step-up (to 220V) transformer.
I am not sure about Worcester boilers, certainly most older ones are not polarity sensitive.
Virtually all inverters are either connected with one output to chassis or they could be.
If they have a floating output then, after reading the instructions, connect one side to the earth. First check though that one side of the output is not connected to one side of the input! If thats the case just make sure you connect the same side to the earth.
Most small inverters are self protected and just stop if they are overloaded or shorted.
