Irregular DHW temperature

Alpha CB24 boiler, installed in 2004.

Hot water temperature varies from hot to cold over a few minutes (not pleasant when taking a shower!)

This has come on gradually over a few months. There is also an increasing drip from the DHW heat exchanger.

I'm going to get the heat exchanger replaced; Should I get the flow valve or diaphragm replaced, too?

This is a hard water area

It would be better if you say where you are located so that we can judge if your water is hard enough to cause a problem. London is stated to have hard water but that is not a problem for a modern boiler.

It sounds as if your secondary heat exchanger is either blocked by debris or scaled on the secondary side probably resulting from allowing it to leak !

Replacing the HE will probably solve all your problems.

Replacing HE might solve the problem, but it may not be a permanent solution. Find the cause and remedy that as well.
