Hello window experts :D

This is the only window in our house which overlooks the garden and we'd like to replace the frosted pane with a normal see thru one. How easy/difficult is this going to be?

What is the process and where do we go to get a replacement pane?

Many thanks for any advice

Amanda

simple enough job! the beading on the inside can be levered off carefully with a sharp chisel which allows the glass to be removed. start from the middle of the long sections.

the glass unit can be sourced from most glazing workshops.

refitting the beads can be a bit trickier refit the short lengths first followed by the longer sides.

Thanks Alastair, if it's as simple as you make it sound then I'm happy for my other half to tackle it :D

Looks like Duraflex, if it is it uses a shuffle bead which can be a complete pain to get in and looking at the left bead it doesnt appear fully home/fitted any way, so start with that one, have a go at taking it out, then you can measure the glass inc thickness and have a go at putting the beads back in.... get a white rubber mallet.. ;)

if the window overlooks another property and its a fairly recent building/extension the frosted glass may be a planning reqirement for others privacy!!
