I checked out the corners (which will be receiving kitchen worktop) for squareness and found them not to be perfect in fact a good 5mm and more adrift over the depth for a worktop. Is this within reasonable limits or should a good builder get them spot on?

there are maybe 4 or 5 occasions at which the builder could foul up a corner.

and at the same time he could put it right.

5mm over 600mm?

if this continued across the room then i would be shocked. if it was just a blip then you can get this occurring in the skim alone, if the spread was rough.
