Lateral + penetrating will occur above ground on any external wall.
Causation of above can be? a dirty cavity tie [mortar on the cavity tie]
Older retro filled cavity insulation.
Solid old 9 inch brick walls?
Masonry solid walls?
In effect both sets of terminology are interlinked and in effect the same thing.
