Sorry if this sounds a dumb question but I have an old bath, with square shaped tap holes. I think it was installed in the 70's.

I'm looking to buy a fix-a-tap kit and they do a version for cast iron baths and pressed steel baths. How do I tell which mine is?

if its 2-3 mm thick its pressed steel.
if its 6-10mm thick its cast.
With square holes Id say 99% sure its cast.

It's definitely no where near 10mm thick

2-3mm is more like it.

IF the outside is smooth it pressed - if it`s rough -ish it`s cast

If you give it a good whack with a hammer , & it crack's it is cast iron , if the hammer bounce's off it is steel :)
