It needs replacing.

It's a Honeywell, it's a three way job, it's got a "pimple", it looks like a v4073a, but I cannot find "v4073a" printed anywhere.

Inside the cover it says "Sundial Y plan 3 Position Diverter Valve."

Also "Made in Canada 40003279-002"

On the front of the case it says "Honeywell 8951"

On the back of the case it says "40003916-003"

?

Yes it is but how do you know it needs replacing? You may get away with just replacing the synchron motor.

It is malfunctioning and, although the problem could be rectified with a new motor, the valve is pretty darn old now, so if I can get a new valve fairly cheaply then I will.
