I have a LOT of windows and atleast 1/2 of the hinges have failed to date resulting in windows that don't close..

The the same story across the estate with all of the neighbours complaining about the same thing.. Clearly the developers cut corners when it came to the windows.

When I moved in, I had 4 that were particularly bad, and whilst I bought some hinges (Cotswold), I never had the time and I ended up getting a man in to fix them. But I vowed to do the rest myself...

2 years late, I finally got around to doing 2 windows using the hinges I originally and it was as easy as I hoped. The only thing which wasn't idea was the one of screws in the new hinges ALMOST lined up, but not quite. I knew they wouldn't be a match, but I hoped they would be far enough off to make new holes.. But one of the holes is far to use, but too close to the original cause the screw to torque out.

So to get to the point.. What is the considered the best hinges? I want to do this job once.. So want quality hinges.. I am quite happy with the Cotswold ones i used, but as I said, the screws positioning wasnt ideal so I want to try another type.

I may just stick with Cotswold and make the hole work, perhaps using a slightly bigger screw.. Or I am tempted to try Yale..

Anyone got any recommendations?
