Is this asbestos plasterboard?

Hi,

The walls in my rented house are covered in some sort of very thick wallpaper which is starting to crack and detach from the wall especially in the bathroom and looking at the fibres I am starting to freak out that it might be asbestos.
I am going to order an asbestos kit and send some samples, but in the meantime does anyone recognize the material used on this wall?
Thanks!

If it’s just wallpaper, I doubt it’s asbestos, but obviously testing would confirm this.

It looks like painted anaglypta wallpaper to me which is a thickish heavily textured wallpaper made popular for covering up walls which have seen better days. Used by landlords to cut costs instead of skimming or replastering the walls. I agree with the previous poster that it is highly unlikely to be asbestos.

Edit: I suspect the walls behind the ripped wallpaper are in a state of disrepair and need attention and I suspect that is why anaglypta paper was put on them in the first place.

you can get asbestos testing kit via Amazon uk. It is speedy response and I have been told by a builder, that they use it all the time.
