Is this flue ok?

My sister has just moved into a new (to her) house.

She has a ravenheat combi boiler which appears to have been installed about 4 years ago.

Here is the flue:

Is this safe enough for the time being?

I was thinking of filling the hole with fire rated expanding foam, then plaster over the top to make the hole good. Will this be ok?

Anything else I need to know / check?

I'll bow down to the GSR guys on this one but I believe it is given it looks like it's sealed on the outside wall but I would have thought it would be sealed from inside too with cement and then plaster and a rubber seal put over it just to tidy it up

If you use expanding foam make sure the boiler is OFF when you do it, and left off until the foam has hardened. There are reports of the fumes from the foam 'exploding' and blowing the boiler front off a boiler injuring the guy doing the foam.

it not revenheat, it`s a revenheap.
flues very untidy but safe
if it breaks and you can`t get cover,
consider replacing it

I'd agree with that - we have a flue we need to sort out that this happened too. lifted the turret a clear half inch. Thankfully the inner pipe is still inside the seal.

As said though - due to the boiler in the OP chances of there being anything running through the flue are pretty slim .

I take it you chaps don't like the boiler, so sorry to disappoint you, but it's working a treat.

It sounds like expanding foam might not be the best idea. I don't want to do anything unsafe.

Would it be ok to pack the hole with rockwool, and make good the plasterwork to that?

Rockwool can be used, what i would do is cut some thermalite block up and use that
