Have a sort of walk in store cupboard in my lads bedroom and looking at tarting up and using it as a wardrobe. Currently has toys etc in there.
However at the bottom seems to be some boxing in with 2 copper pipes sticking out...

What is it? Is it from the old heating system? Been here ever since we moved in. Can I easily remove as its never been used.
With have a combi now if that helps?

You will have to look at pics side on!

Yep, looks like the HW cylinder used to be there. I would carefully remove some of those planks and check what's underneath. Are those pipes capped or just open? If they are capped you may need to shorten and re-cap further down. It's unlikely but just double check they aren't gas, was the old boiler in there too or in the same place as the new one?

Not sure about old boiler as this is all ive know. Been like this for at least 7 years.
The pipes are not capped as I can get my fingers in them.

What may I find once planks taken off. Should it all be easily removed.
Underneath is the hallway ceiling so they dont go straight down to fround floor level.

Probably a hole with some old pipes in.

Since they aren't capped it would be reasonably safe to assume they are no longer connected to anything and can be cut off further down then you can put some floorboards in place to cover the hole. Ideally you should verify that the other end isn't connected or cap them off to prevent someone accidently sending something through them by fiddling with a valve somewhere.

Ensure the other end(s) aren't connected before capping, especially if you have a fireplace in use. Has been known for redundant back boilers to be left in situ, some still containing water. Should a fire be lit, and the pipes capped, the water remaining in the boiler can boil, and with no escape route it can cause the back boiler to explode!

It's raised quite a bit, so be wary it's not hiding the slope of the ceiling as you come down the stairs.
