My Baxi bahama has just been diagnosed with diverter valve body failure but i am told that i have to have the whole thing headworks as well and the cost that geos with it , can one of you combi experts tell me if this is true or can you just purchase the body ! Thanks

The Honeywell 3 way valve 'body' has no moving parts. Unless it is leaking it does not need to be replaced. The inner cartridge is available as a spare prt No. 241361. The old cartridge may break up on removal.

Sorry Baxipoti thats what i meant to say new cartridge = new motorised head according to heating engineer , so i can buy just the cartridge only problem is i will have to find a supplier so that i can put it to engineer (awkward) do you think i am being told this because he is not sure which part is defunked ! cheers

What are the symptoms?

To test the cartridge, remove the actuator head and push on the spring loaded pin, it should push in (thumb pressure) approximately 12mm - 15mm and return on the spring, without juddering.

The symptoms started with the hot tap being turned on and vibrating for a few seconds then after a day or so the motorised head just kept clicking constantly, i had to switch mains off to get it to stop also (i know i shouldnt have) but i took the head off pressed the slider type switch on the side put it back and the heating would work but not hot water because when we tried to run hot water it just went back to constant clicking mode and has consequently been diagnosed with the replacements i indicated .
thanks for your input does this make it any clearer .

Yes, but did the pin push down about 9 mm ( as I recall not as much as 12-15 mm ? )

You have to push quite hard with a tool as its too stiff with usual fingers.

It sounds as if that may be seized or too stiff for the actuator. They can usually be removed and cleaned up and lubricated with silicone grease and replaced.

The head is a little confusing! The side lever is only an indicator of the position. You cannot push it and when its off the valve it does not indicate anything!

Tony i think by taking the head of i must have somehow allowed it or changed it to the default position ie heating which allowed me heating only but would not run hot water , i will give the spring a press when i get home (at work atm) do you think i could get cartridge seperately .
