On a central heating system which is seven years old there is a TRV fitted to a bedroom radiator and even when it is turned off the radiator still gets as warm as though the TRV setting was at maximum.

I think it is a good make as the system was installed by Scottish (British) Gas.

No the wax/liquid in the head will have "gone" or a bit's dropped out, or the valve seat's leaking...

You can't easily buy heads alone but if you buy an identical whole valve you could try just the head. Saves getting wet.

Your prompt reply to my post is much appreciated.

Luckily we have a Scottish Gas maintenance contract which I have just discovered covers this eventuality.

Have just phoned them up and an engineer will be out tomorrow morning.

Thank you for your time.
