Hi,

Sorry about all the questions, but i have a fair bit that needs attention. :(

On my Vauxhall Vectra 1.8GLS 1997, the steerings a bit loose and you can notice this when on a bumpy road or at speed.

Is this a big job or something that is easily sorted by an expert?

Thanks,

Calv.

What do you mean by loose? Play in the steering, or too light?

Sorry, only way to describe it is that it rattles, not light or heavy, it's as though the column is rattling a bit.

Thanks,

First thing to do is check for correct tyre pressures, then assuming tyres are in ok condition you may need a wheel balance.

Ah good point, now you mention it i needed 4 new tires today for the MOT.

Thanks,

steering column lower coupling. common on vectras. check the universal joints in the coupling for free play. any garage should be able to advise if it needs replaced within a minute or two. coupling 70 quid iirc.
