Is Volt Drop such an issue?

Im probably going to burn in hell for this one but here goes.

Equipement is designed to run at 230v right, however we all know that the actual measurement from the mains is 240 and usually above. So if the V.D calculation is boarder line shoud we be overly worried as the voltage wont drop too low anyway.

I know mains voltage has a tollerance but has anyone measured a voltage -6% of 230 ??

Be interesing to hear other opinions.
 
understand where you are coming from robfurn.

in reality its probably not too much of an issue (within reason), but you should still design circuits to comply with what the regs qoute.
