Are councils usually good to work for? They obviously offer a good pension and more holidays then most private firms. Just wondered people's thoughts on this thanks.

They’re ok, and not all properties have that stigma attached. Pensions aren’t what they used to be, I believe.

Not bad they’re still offering lgps, holidays seem the same across the board as do the hours.

And paid if off sick or injure self. Was thinking there maybe chance of career progression?

Yes all those benefits, and often working from home, so taking a van home too (diesel paid). Yes, could be chance of progression, such as team leader/manager etc.

Thinking of giving it a go. Just worried will be horrible
You won’t know unless you try. @tomsim i believe has recently started with one, mine used to be one, but they became a housing trust (social housing) and I’ve had some bullying managers and we now have some lackadaisical managers. My manager is ok as he was on the tools when I started.

They have both been there now about 12 years so can't be bad where they are

I went for a job at the council once. I didnt get the job as they said i was over qualified! I could read and write!!!
