Isn't it time to sort these parasites out?

Only a few go on to become lawyers. A degree means nothing. I know two with law degrees one works in an Estate Agents and the other on the camera counter at Boots. Law Society limits entry to keep fees high.
Bunch of crooks the lot of them.

Her jobs lined up joe, she been there 2 yrs (solicitors) on the side mine you

Oh you mean the office bike - then they dump her.

my daughter has done 5 yrs at college and uni, she's only half way through, that's to become your average solicitor
She must be a bit backward, because it takes only three years to take a Law degree.

then maybe 10yrs+ to become a member of the Bar
Actually, it's one year for the BVC.

Then the pupillage stage for up to one year, during which she could be earning.

.... then
Then she'll be earning. Or committing insurance fraud - whichever she prefers.

They are part of a cartel that restrict numbers and keep fees high. The government should put a ceiling on their charges.

Wow just what business needs more government saying lower your prices.

Joe I think your prices are to high cut them in half and that seems fair

I happen to love free enterprise and like I stated many times I went to an office building 42 stories high and asked various law firm what their hourly rate is.

A low of $100 to a high of over$1,500 per HR

Same building same license BUT people have to know their own worth.

Let the market decide what is fair.

I have drain cleaners near me that charge 1/3 my price yet I am still busy in spite of the low guys around here giving away their so called talents

Shop around when you need a lawyer and say I can get it cheaper by so and so as if they all charge the same rate that is called price fixing and highly illegal.

You do not know the standard of living the people want for themselves some folks like using a motor cycle to get to work others may like a chauffeur so of course they have to charge more for their life style

I cannot afford myself to do painting or roofing any more.

Knowing I can charge $225 per hr and knowing I can hire a good painter for $25.00 per hr it is not cost effective for me to do the work.

If people used common sense and said let the other person make a living and forget DIY everyone would have a better job legally performed

Can a surgeon change a tire Yes then can but should they?

Only an IDIOT Surgeon would dare take a change of destroying their career rather then calling for a garage to come and make repairs.

I have insurance to cover all my vans and car even to change a flat tire ANY WHERE IN THE USA.

I would be more concerned hiring anyone I thought their prices are to low.

I suppose you think Bill Gates is over paid and so is Murdock and your possibly one of the blokes who think gas prices are to high.

Free enterprise is an amazing thing as long as the government keeps its nose out of it let them just tax the profits and let us do our jobs so the governments can house and feed the lazy

But the going rate is higher because the Law Society restrict numbers entering the profession. It's a cartel - pure and simple.

Would you like Gas fitters to just come into your country and handed a license?

How about the influx of new people coming into a country and handed plumbing /electrical license?

I am sure there is a Quota (cartel) of gas fitting and plumbing going on to protect the guild

for 6 big ones a hour i'd should have learn law not construction

Billy why not have the best of both worlds?

Law is BORING if you did it constantly plumbing every day its a challenge and different

Become an "expert witness" and go to court and use the system to make a small fortune legally

Like a nose everyone has an opinion and opinions can be bought.

My opinion for court cost the lawyers $2,000 a day plus expenses tolls, fuel, time getting to court and back to my office.

If you cant beat them join them

Remember in law there is no right or wrong it is a question of win and lose and the options expressed in court may not be actually your own as you can testify knowing the cases are not taken personally.

When I take a case I ask "ok which side am I on" this way I know which way my expert opinion will lean...

I took a case where a child was scalded by water temperature of 140 deg F and said the temperature should be within the range of 125 Deg F

The victim won the case and received $300,000 for pain and suffering

Less then a month later I was in court and stated that the water temperature was not hot enough to kill bacteria as it was only 150 and should have been 160 and 180 for sterilization
both cases I won and both hot water and one was the temp to low and the other to high amazing how law works

Paid my solicitor 600 quid a couple of weeks back for changing a name on property deeds. I can't imagine him spending any longer than an hour to have sorted it out.
Is there a higher paid job ?. I don't think so.

Yes ask Bill Gates or any plumber who charges RIGHT

! my daughter has done 5 yrs at college and uni, she's only half way through, that's to become your average solicitor, then maybe 10yrs+ to become a member of the Bar, ...then.... then

Owes when she leaves, probably 40 grand ! good luck to them

Try to be like them joe, not against it, they've a job for life[/quote]

No one likes to hear how much schooling it was to become a master plumber /lawyer /doctor and someone has to pay for our education and continuing education

People have no idea how they should be compensated for their training

I know several plumbers who are multimillionaires and electricians because they placed the correct value on their professions

You wait all week for a Sylvan Tieger post, then five come along at once. :D

In that case you're either a liar or an utter, utter, utter, utter, UTTER twat.

Or, quite feasibly, both.

Leave him alone, sotus, it's the Internet and if he wants to pretend he's a gun toting multi-millionaire plumber then let him get on with it. He's harmless enough. Even if he is a complete nob.

He's advocating purgery for commercial gain. I don't call that harmless.

He's also giving all nobs a bad name.
