We've just moved into a house with numerous aerial points and a couple of them have poor signals with picture breaking up on the odd channel. The signal is relayed through a booster but I'm thinking the aerial is the problem. I can't find the aerial anywhere so wondered if anyone could tell me what the aerial is please before I change it.

Why do you think the aerial is the problem if only a couple of points have poor signals? Surely more likely those points or their cables are the problem.

That aerial in your picture is not a TV aerial. Possibly a DAB or PMR aerial, but difficult to say without knowing the dimensions.

So having been back up in the loft it seems that the fm aerial is actually my TV aerial. I'll be changing it imminently.

Called a folded dipole. With aerials there is a trade off, as gain is increased it becomes more directional, so where you are within range of more than one transmitter there is good reason for an omidiectional aerial.

Looks too small for an FM aerial. How long is it top to bottom. An FM aerial is around 5 foot. A DAB aerial half that approx.
