Evening all,

Our downstairs is too cold, what can we do please? Our living room is open to the dining room and the stairs are open in the front room, upstairs is fine but we can't seem to get downstairs warm at all.

We have no fire.
Our house is 1996 has cavity wall and approved thickness of loft insulation, "A" rated double glazing was fitted this year.
We have TRV's upstairs but not downstairs
Our thermostat goes up to 30 degrees but even this high the living room Rad isnt MAD hot.

What can I do please?

Thanks for reading.

:D

Are your downstairs radiators hot to the top? If not they need bleeding. Are the upstairs rads hotter than the downstairs ones, if so the system needs balancing

Move about a bit then, that will warm you up :D

Lad, you do not know cold- it was -5 last night. In the morning van side door was frozen shut.

Hello, the upstairs rads are about the same temp the downstairs living room rad is slightly hotter at the top than the bottom.

the heating should now be on full but the rads are ok to keep your hand on

Just a thought, the CH pump is currently set to setting 2 out of 3, assuming 3 is higher would turning up to 3 help?

You don't seem to have mentioned the boiler flow temperature that it is set to ?

You can turn it up to maximum if you want the rads to give out more heat !

A quick smear of silicone grease on the rubber door seals should cure that...

Hello, a quick lookup online for my Ideal Classic LX and there is a Thermostat knob, the manual says in winter it should be on setting 5/6 it was on 2/3 so I have moved it to 5. Hope the thing don't blow up now lol?

You'll be fine at that, it will raise the temperature of the water going to the radiators, so they'll get hotter.... What setting was it on before?..
