It's not about generating extra revenue

I didnt notice any patronising going on..I was actually empathising with you..

And if you have accepted it blah de blah..why bother posting?

I wasn't saying that you were patronising me you silly billy. I was complaining about being patronised by the authorities as well as fined and endorsed.

That was the point of my original post and that is the third time I have pointed that out.

If motorways were big conveyor belts then there wouldn't be any congestion, or speeding, or accidents, and it would also guarantee that the cars could never reach take off velocity.

Well said Softus   and no filling up will fuel either...... hey, I reckon you're onto something here................

Ever read 'The Roads Must Roll' by Robert A Heinlen?
Er, yes, actually.

Although I consider my work to be original (blush), I would say my main inspirations are tim west and Robert Heinlein. And if I win tonight (gush, flutter, bedroom eyes) I will use my celebrity and money to help children and small animals. Does my bum look big in this?

What has the time of day/night and number of other vehicles on the road got to do with it?

You were travelling at 15mph over the speed limit, just accept the points and the fine and learn a lesson

I've already accepted the points and the fine, but the point I was trying to make was about the sheer cheek of sending out information with the paperwork to the effect that " this is not about generating extra revenue, it's for road safety". Do me a favour, 65 on a motorway ffs, in the dead of night, and deserted. Do they think that people are completely stupid, well, some are obviously. I have learnt a lesson by the way, I'll be watching out for those [removed] speed traps more carefully. [removed]

Well considering stopping people like you is my job, i couldnt care less what you think

ive gathered that from previous police interventions, the "couldnt care less" attitude seems to get very little sympathy from punters. amazing that you probably still think you are hated for doing your job properly.

Funny you should say that nickso, The SS and the gestapo probably wondered why they never got invited to bar mitzvahs,

Snico, You chose to be a cop (if thats what you are), fair enough. [abuse removed]

I thought that increasing and promoting road safety was your job, in which what drivers think is the whole point, or am I being naive?

Oh dear, its probably people like you that keep people like me in a job!

Amongst many other things, that is part of the job yes. One in which I think we do pretty well

You do? Seriously?

I suspect that your colleagues do, but do you not see the problem in the comment you made in reply to sooey's post? All you've achieved (on this topic) is alienation, and there's a distinct probability that most people will assume that you're a traffic policeman/woman and will treat your attitude as being representative of the entire force.

You might consider that your views are your own when you're off duty, but if you're not posting here professionally then you've done the traffic police force an immense disservice in revealing/implying that you're non-caring member of it.

I don't think so, seeing as I have no criminal record, nor ever have had.

I think it's people like you, who make your job that much harder for other people like you.

So you think from my response to someone calling me an obnoxious *** and the attitude of other users on speed limits etc, that I do not care about road safety?

I beg to differ, I am a traffic officer yes and I know the attitude a large number of drivers have on us. The 'couldnt care less' comment may have been a bit OTT, but I get really annoyed when someone receives a fine/ticket for breaking the law, then gives excuses like the road is clear, it was 4am etc.....
