I will be putting a FLAT roof on a garage and am wondering what size joists to use. They will be spanning 2 lots of 3.5meters between the outer wall and the central beam (the total length will be around 7m). I am thinking of using 6" x 2" but just want to ensure that they do not sag after a few years. Any ideas?

or 150x50 if you use c24 timber :)
at 400c of course
The Trada tables don't support your sizing even @ 400 centres with C24. The roof won't collapse of course but may sag over time.

may be me misunderstanding lol but i thought the span for c24 6x2 was 3.39m internal span . i was allowing for the wall plate too which would be 6.98m plus the central support. if the 7m is internal measurement i will bow out graciously and say oops sorry .

150x50 IS 6x2 !! which is what I suggested.
What is your point?
my apologies mate i was commenting on freddies answer just to build my own knowledge. his reply of 7x2 is the one i would go for . i was just being a little bit cheeky to be honest.
no offence intended :(
