Jolly good

From pictures can't see if there is an earth connection which the ones for round plugs should have?

Many electrical parts are sold which before assembly have exposed live parts. Once assembled these are very good, my only problem with any Schuko to BS1363 adaptor is in Germany they have had RCD protection for many years but in the UK only since 2008 and where the item is not Class II then it is possible it does not have double pole switching.

Hard to tell.

There might be one

Do all Schuko plugs have twin earth connections? I have many of the two pin adaptors which have come with stuff bought but my three pin is like this

clearly with earth connection.

This one

clearly shows the earth connection but many of the adverts don't show that. Some like this one

actually state non earthed.

However plugged into a 4 way short extension lead OK but that's a lot of weight to hang from a wall socket.

Yes fused. The fixed adaptors do seem to be labelled as to is earthed or not. It is up to the user to decide if the correct one is being used can't really see how one can do anything to force use of correct type although looking at picture of unearthed one I would not think and earthed plug would fit it.

these are the real problem. No fuse and no shutters I have two both provided with equipment to allow it to plug into a UK socket. In both cases if only used with the equipment it was supplied with then not really a problem. However since not fixed to the equipment there is a problem. Very handy to use meter probes with and equipment fitted with USA plugs. But although my equipment with USA plugs is rated at 250 volt that does not mean all items are.

In one case it would have been easy to replace the USA plug with British but to be fair sold at a radio rally and the equipment would be illegal to use by anyone not holding an amateur radio licence so not really sold to general public. The other came with a battery charger for a camera. There is no way to use battery charger without a USA to British adaptor the USA plug folds into the charger for when being used with car cig lighter so has to be removable.

In my office plugged into an extension lead it presents no danger. But the next battery charger I bought had interchangeable bases which was a much better design.

Official Pentax charger £60 the replacement £10 and has advantage of working with cig lighter as well. Clearly people are going to buy the cheap one so maybe education rather than cotton wool is the way forward?
