It will be applauded by the likes of Fillyboy et al on here.
No doubt they will be out in force defending yet more loss of democracy.

Anybody with a brain cell knows Grayling has been bought, he has zero credibility.

Well there is a greater chance they will publish the Russia report- hopefull unredacted. Then its a question of the media doing their job...

Andrew Pierce of the Daily Mail on Sky news this evening, on now, is being hugely critical of the govt on this.

Was not that Mp booted out for colluding with the opposition??

Skullduggery ;)

Mind u par for the course in politics :sneaky:

Do we know which version is true? Surely if he won fair and square his fellow MPs would be outraged. Is there much in the way of outrage about his unfair treatment?

What are the two opposing stories? The facts of the matter are clear, Grayling was supposed to be made chairman after lots of work from the government. In an upset one of the five (supposedly) secure votes nominated himself as chairman and Labour saw a chance to make the government look bad. They might also have wanted someone other than Grayling.

I don't have a clue if it was the result of a conspiracy (!) between the Tory MP and labour or just shrewd planning from the Tory, who could guess where Labour would jump. Either way he offended the government and thus must be expelled from the party.

Why?

The role should be independent of the government and should be elected by MPs

Johnson wanted Grayling for the role, that's yet another example of a power grab. Select committees should not be influenced by the executive -surely thats the conspiracy.

having Julian Lewis win voted for the role is not a conspiracy, its more a case of voting in a person with experience ( Lewis served as Chair of the Defence Select Committee from 2015 to 2019) as opposed to a voting in a sycophant.

I suspect it's a good thing we don't have Grayling in charge in case he privatised the security services or bans their access to books. But I don't know anything about Julian Lewis so he might be just as inept.

Still, booting him out of the Tory party seems excessive.

Its hilarious, the Tory party cant prevent Julian Lewis from taking the post.

there have been rumours the Russian report was going to be published before the summer recess -however it was 100% going to have lots of stuff redacted.

Hopefully now the Tory party have put Julian Lewis's back up and he will come out fighting.

It's also called 80 seat majority. The publlic gave Bojo a free hand and he will use it to its fullest extent - Parliament can sit back for the next 4 years.
