Hi all.

Hope you are all well.

I have just cut this eyesore juniper bush down in my front garden and now I have a stump sticking out of the ground about 10 ins high.

The bush itself was about 4 feet in diameter I suppose. Does that give any indication to the extent of the root system?

Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the stump easily? I'd heard somewhere that if you drill holes into the stumps and pour weedkiller into them, that will lead to them dying and over time will lead to the roots rotting away and make it easier to dig out?

I'd be grateful for any help.

Cheers,

Jim.

PS. TNT will be no good - too close to the house!

Copper nails driven into the top of the stump.

cheers softus.

My dad said tie it to the towing eye on my car and gently pull it out. Then he hastilly retracted the idea when my mrs showed her disapproval.

Any thoughts?

I'm sorry, but you should be writing Carry On film scripts, not posting on a DIY forum.

Any thoughts?
I wouldn't try it with the car. Land Rover with a winch, perhaps, but your other half's intuition is right here, and I suspect your clutch (ooh missus) would lose a few years of life in a short and fruitless episode. Or you could be really unlucky and end up slingshotting the stump through the rear window of your car...
