Doing a little rewiring for a friend earlier today I had just lifted a couple of floorboards and was sifting through the T&E to see what was what when I got zapped by a light switch run.

Powered down and removed the offending cable - Photos below.

The choc block was tucked up under the void between the gyproc and the wall and it looks like the tw@t who wired the place had stripped the insulation drawing the cables down from the ceiling and, rather than replace, had simply choc blocked a new piece in - Not even covered in tape.

There are some to55ers around and I now know why I stopped doing this for a living

Well initially the other guys fault, but then your fault for not checking the circuit was dead before putting your hand where you couldn't see what you were touching. Glad you weren't hurt too badly.

Is THIS the dirty rat??

I thought so too when I first saw it but then I saw the remainder on the blockwork when I cut back to replace.
