Been viewing a house- about 1970 brick/render roof tile house in Scotland.
I'm just wondering what the boards here could be - and more so, if there's any issues with them....

Thanks

Pretty sure they were a Wimpey development in about 1970/1980

I would say its some type of insulation but its hard to tell, there is what looks like a lot of debris on the loft floor, could it have been re-roofed?

Doesn't look like it's been retired as same tiles as all other houses on the street. Could be some idea of reflective roof sheathing.

I've previously only owned older houses where you can just see wood.

My worry is asbestos (late 1970 / early 1980 build), or and damp issues. It all seems dry.

My understanding is that Scottish building regulations require a sheathing over the rafters. So this sheeting material is to do that.

As for what it is made of... no idea. I would test a bit for asbestos but otherwise leave it alone.
