hi everyone,
past few days, my JVC Fire tv does not respond to the remote to turn on. batterys in remote are fine. it also wont turn on even when i use the on/off button on tv itself . standby light can be seen to be on but wont turn on.
it only turns on when switched off at mains and then back on, then it goes through the usual boot process and once on works fine with remote. after the mains turn on, remote can turn it on and off for the day . However the process starts again next time its turned on.
also the live terrestrial tv will come on with audio only. no video until i change channel. all kind of strange.

any ideas anyone please?

i may have to reset it to factory and see but will loose all i have installed on it so that is a last resort.

software is up to date too.

thank you all

Any HDMI cables or anything else plugged in TV

Thank you for replying

No nothing else apart from coax plug from the aerial
Thank you

not yet, as I will have to re install all my apps etc so last resort. Sounds like it’s the only option left to me now
I was hoping for an easier fix but I guess I have to factory reset
Thank you

It is a computer. It has locked up and the mains reset restarts it.

Something you do or is running in background causes a lockup when put in standby. Or some interference getting in causing the same.

Factory reset might remove reset something. Add bits / apps one at a time if it repeats and you need to do another factory reset. One of them might be the cause of the lockups.

TV picture issue is a decoder hang, that gets reset/flushed on a channel change.

We deliberately introduced data discontinuities to a digital video/sound decoder in testing a link between two transmitter sites... Those that locked up were eliminated.

These Argos JVC Fire TVs are cheap for a reason.
