KAI90VI20G/05 Problem with ice dispenser flap

I’ve got a Bosch American fridge freezer, model KAI90VI20G/05, a few years old and just recently it stopped dispensing ice. Note it has NO problem making the ice, it’s just that the flap on the door doesn’t open to let the ice out . I’ve tried to figure out how to take the flap unit out but failed miserably. Spotted 1 screw and removed it but no affect, suspect it is clipped in somehow. Anyone got any words of wisdom on how to take it apart? That would really be appreciated. 2 photos attached.

Bosch fridge/freezer KAG90A120G/08 ice maker problem

The ice maker on my fridge freezer has stopped dispensing. It makes ice but the flap won't open. I find that there is a solenoid mechanism behind the front control panel but cannot find a way to access this. I've found videos of people sticking instruments in around the edge and unclicking it...

Thanks for that thread, much appreciated. I had a look, hate to say it but still not so sure about how I actually detach the flap … did see mention of 2 credit cards but a bit more detail would really help before I tear in and start snapping things off .

I spy, in your second photo, what appears to be an allan screw socket, retaining the square opening to which the flap is attached. There is a rounded part, sticking out forward, from the square, in the centre of the rounded part, is what appears to be the screw.

Finally managed to get back to the freezer, and got the operating module prized off (slipped a thin paint scraper down both left and right sides which pushed in the clips holding it in, see photo), and found the rotating arm on the flap had snapped (just like on the other thread). But no one seems to stock the flap unit … Bosch part 12004960, almost like it is now obsolete . Does anyone know where this part could be bought? Or an alternative compatible part? Or do I need get used to manually opening the flap with me fingers .

Could the part be 3D printed, do you know anyone with such a device, who could print the part?

Local Facebook Community Groups sometimes have someone who has a 3D printer and does'nt mind having a bash for the cost of the materials, if you have the STL file, which is available via the other thread. Or there are plenty of online 3D printers who will print it for you.

Same problem, I bought one from an internet 3d printer service but it looked a bit flimsy. In fact it broke on the first attempt. So not very happy with that.

Just in case anyone else is struggling to get into it here's a few more photos of where the locking tabs are. I used a metal Revolut credit card on the left hand side, then jiggled enough to get the RHS out, I tried putting something in both sides but it was too tight. Someone else mentioned a thin paint scraper, that would have been perfect, with the handle giving a bit more purchase/leverage

Anyway I still need to find a decent replacement. But I will try the drilling, metal support rod and gluing approach in the meantime.

On the back of someone else's post, I've just drilled both sides with a 1.5mm drill, then glued the drill in to each plastic piece and used a soldering iron to "plastic weld" the join. It's not quite straight but hoping straight enough. Glues curing for 24 hours then I'll refit. Fingers crossed.

I can't believe spart parts have been discontinued for an appliance that is only 6 years old. That's crap
