Im thinking of laying Karndean floor covering on my ashfelt kitchen floor which currently has a mixture of 'rhino' flooring and carpet tiles, but the supply/ fitting cost is astronomical. Is it possible to lay this stuff yourself? i know the secret is in the preparation of the floor, but is it that difficult? Anybody had a similar experience? please help.

Hi Kaycee
Not done this myself but this is how an asphalt surface should be prepared:

Asphalt should be de-greased and the surface rinsed with clear water. The surface should then be primed with neat Neoprene or Epoxy primer, allowed to dry and a minimum 3mm smoothing underlayment applied.

Acclimatisation of material before installation

Remove material from packaging, spread out and allow to condition in room where installation is to take place at a constant temperature of 18°-26° for a period of 24 hours prior to installation. This temperature should be maintained during installation, and for a 24 hour period after installation.

Yeah, funny enough I was looking at their website just a couple of days ago as a client was considering having this stuff in their conservatory. Have you any experience of using it?

spend 4 days of my week fitting it. Very good stuff. Make sure you get a good fitter if you want design work like boarders etc tho.
