I just had to relocate one of my staff, because their American spouse was deported for travelling with an incorrect visa. The issue was also only a technicality. Off you go, they said, don't come back. We don't care that you live here.

So a totally different scenario in every which way possible

1) it was a wrong visa -so she hadnt been there long

2) a wrong visa is far more than a simple technicality............maybe you mean a visitors visa rather a work visa, hardly "just a technicality"

2) "off you go" they said -so they didnt shackle her and throw her in prison

3) I bet they didnt say dont come back

4) I bet they didnt say "we dont care that you live here"

If you are a non EU citizen, you require a residency visa to live and work in Sweden. These are granted for 3 years at a time.
